Finding the right support can bring up a lot of practical questions. Below are some of the most common things people ask when considering therapy or counselling with me.
Referrals & Rebates
No, you don’t need a referral to book an appointment - many clients choose to self-refer.
If you would like to access Medicare rebates, you will need a GP referral and a Mental Health Care Plan, which can provide rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
For pregnancy-related support under the perinatal Medicare item, a GP referral is required, and up to three sessions are available per pregnancy.
Yes. With a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, Medicare provides a rebate for eligible sessions. The current rebate for Clinical Psychology services is $141.85 per session. Some private health funds also offer rebates — please check directly with your provider.
Fees & Payments
Fees vary depending on the type of service:
- Individual therapy sessions: Below the APS recommended rate of $311–$315.
- Donor counselling sessions: $250 per session, with an additional $85 fee for reports.
Some reduced-fee appointments may be available — please ask when booking.
Yes, a limited number of low-fee spaces are available for clients experiencing financial hardship. Please enquire directly.

Yes. Sessions are available both face-to-face in Spring Hill (Brisbane) and online via secure Telehealth.
Sessions typically run for 50 minutes.
This varies for each person. Some people find a few sessions are enough, while others benefit from longer-term support. Together, you and Pippa will discuss your needs and agree on a plan.
This service provides up to three Medicare-funded sessions per pregnancy for individuals experiencing difficulties related to pregnancy, whether planned or unplanned. A GP referral is required to access this support.
In Queensland, implications counselling is a regulatory requirement for donors and recipients of donated gametes or embryos. These sessions help prepare all parties for the legal, emotional, and relational aspects of donation.
Yes. Pippa is a Board-Approved Supervisor and provides individual and group supervision for psychologists, social workers, and other allied health professionals. She also supports clinicians working with trauma, fertility, and perinatal clients.

Pippa’s practice is at Suite 355, 225 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill, Queensland. The location is accessible by public transport, and parking options are nearby.
Yes. Limited on-street and paid parking is available, and the practice is within walking distance of public transport options.
